Dua for Entering the Mosque

Sahih Muslim #713, Sunan Abu Dawud #465, Sunan Ibn Majah #771
# Dua for Entering the Mosque

## Arabic Text

**اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ**

## Transliteration

*Allāhumma aftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatika*

## Translation

"O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy."

## When to Recite

This beautiful dua should be recited when **entering the mosque** (masjid). It is a Sunnah practice that our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to perform before stepping into the house of Allah.

## Context and Virtue

When we enter the mosque, we are entering a sacred space dedicated to the worship of Allah. By reciting this dua, we ask Allah to grant us His mercy, acceptance of our prayers, and the spiritual benefits that come from being in His house.

The mosque is a place where:
- Our sins are forgiven
- Our prayers are multiplied in reward
- Angels surround us
- Allah's mercy descends upon us

By asking Allah to open the doors of His mercy, we acknowledge our need for His blessings and our dependence on Him alone.

## Practical Tip

Make it a habit to:
1. Enter with your right foot first
2. Recite this dua with presence of heart
3. Remember that you are entering a blessed space
4. Pray two rak'ahs (Tahiyyat al-Masjid) before sitting down

May Allah accept our worship and grant us the ability to maintain the etiquette of His houses. Ameen.
